Kustomer Architect is available to invoke as the assistant in the automation sidebar throughout Kustomer. In Multi-Agent Mode, Architect can:

*   Recommend a team structure
*   Update an agent's settings
* Add agents, paths, and routing on the Build canvas.

### Before you begin

You must [switch your automation](https://help.kustomer.com/en_us/building-ai-automations-with-the-advanced-builder-Symva33KWl#switching) from single-agent mode to multi-agent mode. After you confirm the switch, the automation cannot revert to Single-agent mode.

### Using Architect with multi-agent automations

Architect will recommend blocks and paths as you build. It can also update agents or settings like procedures, guardrails, etc. For example, here are instructions to use Architect to review a team-structure:

1. In **Architect**, describe the specialist agents and the routing you want.
2. Read the team-structure card. A Read-only preview is generated. From here, you can add or adjust blocks in the builder to match the structure.
3. Select **See full view** when it appears, to open the full structure.
4. Close the full view, then match that structure on the canvas.

### Apply an agent or settings change

Architect can update an existing agent and the automation's settings. Updates include procedures, knowledge sources, custom guidance, display name, tone, greetings, and related settings. Simply ask Architect and then receive suggested responses. Click **Apply** for any changes you want to keep.

Kustomer saves the update on the agent or on the automation settings.

Applying guidance replaces the entire custom guidance field. Be sure the replacement text you've generated contains the full guidance that agent needs to follow. If necessary, prompt Architect again to take the entire guidance step into account and produce a full text closer to the desired outcome.

### Add agents and paths on the canvas

On **Build**, with the **Multi-Agent Mode** badge showing, create the agents, connect the paths, and set the routing. Multi-Agent Mode is where you create multiple AI agents, design custom routing, and build the conversation flow.

Select a block on the canvas to edit it. Delete an agent from the canvas to remove it permanently. Delete a path to remove that path and the block it leads to.

### Test and deploy the automation

1. Select **Test** and create a test evaluation for the automation.
2. Select **Deploy**.
3. Select **Save and Deploy** when you have changes to deploy.
4. Select **Deploy** when the automation is already current.

### Use cases for Architect in Multi-Agent Mode

Architect helps most when an automation outgrows a single agent, or when a change needs to reach several agents at once. The following scenarios show common ways to use Architect in Multi-Agent Mode.

#### Split a general agent into specialist agents

A retail team's single AI agent handles order status, returns, and product questions. As the number of procedures grows, its answers become less consistent across topics.

* **Ask Architect:** "I want separate agents for order tracking, returns and exchanges, and product questions. Route each conversation to the right agent based on what the customer asks about."
* **Review the team-structure card.** Architect generates a read-only preview of the recommended agents and routing.
* **Build it on the canvas.** Use the preview as a blueprint to add the agents and connect their paths on **Build**.

#### Update an agent after a policy change

Your return window changes from 30 days to 60 days, and the returns agent needs to reflect the new policy right away.

* **Ask Architect:** "Update the returns agent's procedures for a 60-day return window, and use our updated returns policy article as a knowledge source."
* **Review the suggested changes,** then click **Apply** for each change you want to keep.

**Note:** Applying guidance replaces the agent's entire custom guidance field. Before you click **Apply**, confirm the suggested text includes all the guidance the agent still needs, not just the new policy.

#### Match your automation to your brand voice

A subscription brand refreshes its voice to be warmer and more casual, and wants its AI agents to sound the same way.

* **Ask Architect:** "Make the tone friendly and conversational, and update the greeting to be warm and welcoming."
* **Review and apply the changes.** Kustomer saves each update on the agent or on the automation settings.

#### Add a new support area to an existing team

Your company launches a loyalty program, and customers start asking about points and rewards.

* **Ask Architect:** "We launched a loyalty program. Recommend where a loyalty agent fits in our current team and how conversations should route to it."
* **Add the agent and path on the canvas,** following the team-structure card.
* **Test before you deploy.** Create a test evaluation that includes loyalty questions, and confirm they reach the new agent before you click **Deploy**.
