Keyboard shortcuts and right-click context menus help you navigate Kustomer and manage conversations without repeatedly moving between the keyboard and on-screen controls.

Keyboard shortcuts are context-sensitive. Some commands work throughout Kustomer, while others are available only when you are viewing a particular page, conversation, panel, or attachment.

**Who can access this feature?**

**User types**

All users can access keyboard shortcuts if they are turned on for the organization.

## Open the keyboard shortcuts menu

To view the shortcuts available in Kustomer, press **?**.

The keyboard shortcuts menu groups commands by the area of Kustomer where they can be used. The displayed keys automatically match your operating system.

You can also open the keyboard shortcuts menu from your profile menu.

If the menu is unavailable or the shortcuts do not work, an admin may have turned off keyboard shortcuts for your organization.

## Understand keyboard shortcut behavior

Keep the following behaviors in mind:

* Most single-key shortcuts work only when your cursor is not active in a text field.
* Composer formatting shortcuts continue to work while you are writing a reply or note.
* Some shortcuts are available only when the related feature, panel, or item is present.
* When a command can apply to more than one item, Kustomer prompts you to select the target.
* Two-step shortcuts require you to press one key and then the next key within about one second. Do not press both keys simultaneously.
* Only the two-step shortcuts for your current page are active.
* Press **ESC** to close a menu or dialog, remove focus from an element, or return to the previous state.

This article uses the following key names:

COMMAND or ⌘

CTRL

OPTION or ⌥

ALT

SHIFT or ⇧

SHIFT

RETURN or ↵

Some keyboard combinations may also be used by your browser or operating system. Open the in-product keyboard shortcuts menu to confirm the shortcut displayed for your device.

## Use the command palette

Open the command palette to search for and run available Kustomer commands from one place.

Mac

Windows

COMMAND + K

CTRL + K

Start typing the name of an action or destination, and then select the matching command.

The commands available in the palette can depend on your current page, permissions, and enabled features.

## Use right-click context menus

In supported areas of the New Kustomer Experience, right-click an item to open its context menu.

Context menus provide actions relevant to the selected item and your current location. For example, a context menu may let you open, edit, copy, organize, or otherwise manage an item without first opening its details.

You can expect right-click functionality in the following areas:

Area

Items you can right-click

What to expect

**Inbox**

Conversations and other supported inbox items

Actions related to opening or managing the selected item. Available actions depend on the conversation’s current state.

**Conversation tabs**

Open conversation, customer, or company tabs

Actions for opening or managing the selected tab.

**Conversation timeline**

Supported messages, notes, tasks, and other timeline items

Actions related to the selected timeline item, such as copying a link, editing the item, or viewing more information.

**Search**

Search results and supported saved searches

Actions for opening or managing the selected result or saved search.

**Customers and companies**

Supported customer, company, people, task, signal, and hierarchy items

Actions for opening the selected record or working with it from the current page.

**Attachments**

Images, documents, and other supported attachments

Actions for opening, previewing, copying, or downloading the attachment. Available actions depend on the attachment type.

**Tables and lists**

Supported rows in settings, reporting, and other data tables

Actions for opening or editing the selected record. Some linked rows use the browser menu so you can open the destination in another tab.

**Navigation links**

Supported links and linked buttons

The browser’s standard context menu, including options such as opening the destination in a new tab or copying the link.

The available options depend on:

* The type of item you selected
* The page or panel you are viewing
*   Your permissions
*   The item’s current state
* Features enabled for your organization

Context menus and keyboard shortcuts often provide different ways to perform the same action. Use keyboard shortcuts for frequent actions and context menus when you want to review the actions available for a particular item.

> **Note:** Your browser also has its own right-click menu. Kustomer’s context menu appears only for items that support Kustomer-specific right-click actions.
