### Prerequisites

* Must have a Guru subscription.

* Must have Guru knowledge sources created (can also include text files or individual documents).

* Must [create a Guru knowledge agent](https://help.getguru.com/docs/setting-up-and-managing-knowledge-agents), with access to the knowledge sources you wish to let your automations in Kustomer access - these knowledge agents can be connected to additional third-party apps (such as Google Drive).

* Must [generate a Guru API User token](https://help.getguru.com/docs/gurus-api), which will be used by the AI Agents in Kustomer to access content in Guru via the above mentioned knowledge agent.

These instructions also assume you are logged into your Kustomer instance.

### Configuring Guru knowledge agents

You must have [created a knowledge agent in Guru](https://help.getguru.com/docs/setting-up-and-managing-knowledge-agents) before you can configure one. Once created, configure this knowledge agent for use in Kustomer AI.

To configure a knowledge agent for use in Kustomer AI:

1. From the left side navigation, click ********Kustomer AI********. The ********AI Automations******** screen opens.

2. Click **Knowledge Sources**.

3. Click **Add source** to add a knowledge source for Guru. A page opens to **Select Knowledge Source Type**.

4. Click **Guru**. The **Connect a Guru Agent** modal opens.

    1. Enter a required **Name**.

    2. Enter an optional **Description**.

5. Click **Connect Instance**. A modal opens to connect your instance:

    1. Enter the required **Guru Instance Name**.

    2. Enter the required **Email** associated with your Guru account.

    3. Enter the [API Token you generated from Guru](https://help.getguru.com/docs/gurus-api).

6. With your Guru agent configured, Select a **Guru knowledge agent**.

    1. Each Guru knowledge agent requires its own setup.

    2. Any information available to the Guru knowledge agent you created will be available via Kustomer AI.

With a Guru knowledge agent configured, your next steps are to use it with your Kustomer AI.

Note: Brand-specific Guru connections are not yet supported. For brands with multiple, unique Guru knowledge agents, please contact Technical Support (or your Customer Success Manager).

### Using Guru

Using Guru involves feeding Guru data to either AI Agent for Customers, or AI Agent for Reps.

#### Using Kustomer Concierge

You can [configure Kustomer Concierge](https://kustomer.kustomer.help/en_us/knowledge-source-Hkt7l2osC) that uses your newly added Guru integration as a knowledge source. Once configured, customers who query your automation will get a response that may include knowledge from your Guru knowledge base. Some useful examples include:

*   Return policies.

* Best practices related to sizing.

* Specific troubleshooting practices for self service before connecting with support agents.

#### Using Kustomer Envoy

[Copilot can use Guru as a knowledge agent](https://kustomer.kustomer.help/en_us/set-up-copilot-B1p5rYV7ll), empowering teams with internal processes documented in a Guru knowledgebase. Once configured, agents can utilize Copilot to get access to your internal Guru knowledge base. Some useful examples include:

* Processes specific to a particular issue (such as protocol for handling customer complaints).

* Instructions to access internal systems.

* Complex issues that have documented resolution paths, empowering lower tier support reps to take action.

### Getting Started

With Guru integrated, Kustomer Envoy and customers draw from your customized knowledge sources to deliver more accurate and up-to-date detail.
