Kustomer requires domain authorization to securely choose which websites are allowed to load your custom chat widget. This action prevents unauthorized domains from hosting or displaying the code.

In this article, we’ll cover how domain settings work and how to manage access to your chat widget code.

**Who can access this feature?**

**User types**

Admins can access chat settings.

###

###

To access the Chat Domain settings for a brand, go to **Apps**![](https://cdn.kustomerhostedcontent.com/media/570fad9d9001bc1000163b28/0fe853d3bcfdbb76926dbafe935d63dd.png)and select **Chat**.

###

**Notes:**

* Authorizing domains is a global setting for your entire Kustomer organization and does not need to be configured for each brand.

* Each domain must be explicitly listed.

* Subdomains must be entered individually.

* Separate multiple domains with commas.

* Only listed domains can load the Chat widget.

### **Authorize multiple domains**

You can authorize one or multiple web domains to host your custom chat code with a comma separated list of domains.

To access the Chat Domain settings for a brand, and authorize domain access:

1. In the left navigation, click **Apps.** The **Apps** page opens.

2. From the left side **Apps** navigation panel, click **Chat.** The Chat application page opens.

3.  Authorize your domain:

    1. Enter the domain or domains that will host your Chat widget.

        *   Example: `yourcompany.com`

        *   Example: `support.yourcompany.com`

    2. If your site is accessible with and without `www`, add both domains.

        *   Example: `yourcompany.com, www.yourcompany.com`

4. Click **Update authorized domains** to save and apply your changes.

**Note:** When entering a domain, always remove the URL scheme (for example, `http://` or `https://`) and the final slash `/` in the URL before you add the domain address.

###

### **Use wildcard placeholders**

You can use an asterisk, `*`, as a wildcard placeholder for several similar subdomains. For example, instead of `support.examplebrand.com, shop.examplebrand.com, apidocs.examplebrand.com`, you can enter `*.examplebrand.com`.
