Create a notification for a custom object

If you added a Date field to your Klass, you can create notifications that alert users of an upcoming due date for the object. Users are notified via email and in-app.

Who can access this feature?
User typesAdmins can access the Klasses page.


You can create one notification for each date field you created in the Klass. You cannot create notification rules using a Date field more than once.

To create a notification rule:

  1. Go to Settings > Platform > Klasses.
  2. Select the Klass for which you want to create a notification or create a new one.
  3. Ensure you have at least one Date or Date & Time field in the Klass.

    Note: The Notifications tab is only available if you have at least one of these fields.

  4. Go to the Notifications tab and select Add Notification
  5. Enter a name for the notification and then enter the criteria for when you want the notification to be sent out. For example, you can create a notification that alerts users that a due date is 5 days away.
  6. Optionally, select specific criteria that must be met for the notification. For more information on building filter criteria, see this article.
  7. Select whether you want the notification sent to Assigned Users, Assigned Teams, or both. You can also notify up to 3 additional users and/or the user who created the task.
  8. Enter the notification message and subject in the fields provided.
  9. Select Save Changes.

Notifications will appear on the page and are turned on by default.
